Design System

My work at the Innovation Hub followed a rigorous and consistent design system. While working there, I helped revamp the design system, redesign its layout and added specific requirements and examples for creating specific design materials like icons and reports.

Design Process

The Innovation Hub takes an iterative and collaborative approach to design icons. As the Digital Communications Coordinator:

1. I worked with the Senior Project Assistant to coordinate timelines and deadlines for all design research projects.

2. I received qualitative data from the research team to visualize.

3. I hosted sketching sessions and asked the whole communication team to brainstorm ideas for graphics.

4. I shared the sketches with the manager, research project lead, and team members for feedback and iterated sketches based on their feedback.

5. Once the sketch was approved by the manager, I or a digital storyteller digitized the sketch using Figma or Adobe Illustrator.

6. The digitized design was sent to team members and leaders for feedback.

7. Once feedbacks were incorporated into the final design, I submitted the design to the manager and partner from U of T for final approval.

8. I formatted the report in Adobe InDesign and edited it for accessibility on Adobe Acrobat.
